Getting Started & Help

Girderly brings your JobTread contacts, jobs, status, and finances into your inbox sidebar — Gmail today, with Outlook coming. Here’s how to get set up and make the most of it.

Get set up in three steps

From install to your first connected email takes about two minutes.

1. Install

Install Girderly from the Google Workspace Marketplace — search for Girderly or open its listing, then choose Individual install (just for you) or Admin install (deploy it for your whole team at once).

Google will ask you to Sign in to Girderly, make sure the email address you want Girderly to use is presented on the screen, click Continue.

Next, approve the three permissions Girderly uses — click Select All and then click Continue. (You must approve all for Girderly to work properly). After installing, reload Gmail and the Girderly icon appears in the right-hand add-on rail.

What you’ll see as you install — sign in, approve the permissions, and Girderly lands in your Gmail sidebar:

2. Connect your JobTread account

Open any email, click the Girderly icon, then Settings. Click Connect JobTread — there are no API keys to copy.

  • A JobTread tab opens in your browser. (If you’re not already signed in to JobTread, sign in first.)
  • Choose your organization, set Access to Read and Write, and click Grant Access.
  • Come back to Girderly and click I’ve authorized — finish. You’re connected.

Girderly stores the connection privately in your own Google account — your JobTread data never passes through Girderly’s servers. Setting up the connection is the one exception: during that one-time step the credential passes briefly through Girderly’s authorization service, and is not kept there.

First-time Google permission: if Google shows a Grant permission button the first time you connect, click it and Continue — that approves the one permission Girderly uses to reach JobTread. If you see an “Almost there…” note, just close and reopen Girderly to finish. On a managed Google Workspace account that blocks it, your Workspace admin approves Girderly once — see Troubleshooting.

3. Use it

Open any email and Girderly matches the sender to their JobTread contact, showing:

  • Contact details, financial snapshot, all associate jobs, etc.
  • Every job on the account, each with its live status and contract / invoiced / balance, documents, open tasks, files, with one-click access to each in JobTread.
  • A two-tier view of related properties for management companies
  • Use Search when the sender isn’t on file yet, look up customers, jobs, and vendors to bring them in context.
  • Create, update, and message — jobs, customers, vendors, contacts, notes, and status — without leaving Gmail
  • Only what your JobTread role allows — view-only users see the information; users who can create or edit see those buttons. Nothing to configure; Girderly reads your role straight from JobTread.

Troubleshooting

  • “No match” for a sender — the address isn’t on a JobTread contact yet; use Search JobTread to find them by name and open the same card.
  • Can’t connect — in Girderly, open Settings → Connect JobTread and approve access again (choose your organization and Read and Write).
  • Nothing appears — reload Gmail and confirm Girderly is installed for your account.
  • “Grant permission” or a permission error — the first time Girderly reaches JobTread, Google asks you to approve one permission (“Connect to an external service”). Click Grant permission → Continue; you only do it once. On a managed work account that blocks sensitive permissions, your Google Workspace admin approves Girderly once — either via Admin install from the Marketplace, or by marking it Trusted in Admin console → Security → Access and data control → API controls → App access control.
  • Some buttons are missing — Girderly matches your JobTread role. If your role can only view (not create or edit) customers or jobs in JobTread, those buttons stay hidden in Girderly too. Ask your JobTread admin if you need more access.

Billing

Girderly includes a free 7-day trial, then simple per-seat pricing — the same on Gmail and Outlook, with enterprise available on request. See our Pricing page for the full details. Girderly connects to JobTread through each user’s own authorization and never caches or shares your JobTread data — see our Privacy Policy.
